How to stay fit with these apps

Health is wealth is a popular saying that I’m sure you’ve heard before. The sad part about this saying is that its importance has faded over the years. We’ve been occupied with so much work and responsibilities in our adult life that we’ve forgotten the importance of Health. Our fast lifestyle has also taken a toll on our eating habits and we now prefer burgers over salads and junk over healthy food. So in order to take back control of your health and living a better lifestyle, we’ve curated a list of some useful fitness and healthcare apps that’ll help you get back in shape with just 30 minutes or less of daily effort.

NIKE Training Club-

Nike is synonym with fitness as the 54 years old, Oregon based Multinational sports and equipment company is a household name around the world. Nike’s swoosh is by far the most iconic logo and their campaigns have justified their tagline: “Just Do it.” Nike+ training is an all-rounder fitness app that lets users choose between 100+ workouts including endurance, mobility, and strength. Users can also choose between longer endurance sessions or 15-minute swift workouts which makes it a little more versatile. There are also various famous athletes like Ellie Goulding, Serena Williams etc who’ll be motivating you along the way by virtually working out with you. Support for Apple devices and services like Apple TV and Airplay makes it a breeze to connect to a smart speaker or system to get more immersive fitness experience. The app also syncs with your Nike account so all your data can be monitored when needed.

Headspace-

Focus is a rare wild beast for us modern age humans. We can’t find it that easily and if we do find it, it is difficult to tame this beast as something or the other is always going on in our head. Enter Headspace for all my fellow humans who find it difficult to focus and meditate. Headspace is a great app for beginners who want to get into meditation and don’t know where to begin.

It also gives you a daily reminder to calm down and the fact that you are the master of your own feelings which also makes it a good app recommendation for people who feel anxious. Headspace begins with a 10-day free trial and then it has a paid subscription which I can vouch for is worth it.

Playbook-

Working out can get lonely at times. Sometimes, I personally feel the need for a companion when I am busting my back in the gym. Playbook is essentially a companion app which lets users choose an athlete or fitness influencer as a companion. This allows users to receive routine fitness updates, tips and workouts from their companion. Users can also interact with them and other members of their companion’s group. The best part is that there is no limit when it comes to changing your trainer and you can explore who works best for you.

MyPlate by Livestrong-

MyPlate is a pretty straightforward app which allows users to add in the meals they’ve to add during their day and keep a track of the calories and nutritional information that goes with it. It also provides detailed 8-week meal courses which are tailor made keeping in mind your body type and weight goals. Once you choose one of these meal courses, the app will send you a grocery list which makes shopping groceries a lot easier. Users also have an option to choose a quick workout in case they have some spare time during their day.

 Freeletics-

If you don’t want to go to the gym and don’t have spare thousands of dollars to spend on a trainer and other gym expenses, freeletics is your best option. It is a great app for people who want a hassle-free workout experience with minimum equipment help. Freeletics provides a digital coach that tutors you to use your body weight to train your body for a better overall shape. The app includes various HIIT routines and workouts that will help you reach your goal by just utilizing your free time and body weight.

Insight Timer-

After working for a bit in our office, we often stretch our arms and do some form of on-chair cardio. But office health does not focus on your physical health only, it should be about your mental health too. Insight Timer does just that and unlike other apps, is absolutely free. It is a great app that you can use to take a small break to calm yourself and stop that stress clock for some time. It includes a ton of simple timed meditations as well as guided meditations and an active community who is always there to help you. All these features combined make it a go-to stress buster app.

Runtastic-

If you find Running fantastic then Runtastic is the app for you. Runtastic tracks the route that you’ve run on and plays a variety of motivational tracks to keep you moving. It is a great app for runners as it also analyses your running patterns and recommends ways through which a user can improve. It is a sandbox when it comes to customizations and users can make the most out of it by customizing it to their own liking. It is a great app for runners and people who love to stay a sprint ahead of the competition.

Pocket Yoga-

As the name suggests, it is an app for all yoga enthusiasts and also beginners. With a great theme system that divides classes on the basis of nature. These themes are: Desert (flexibility), Mountain (power) and Ocean (courage) and also has sun salutation A and B. Once you’ve chosen your theme, you can take a class of 30, 45 or 60 minutes. The classes are great and it is a perfect way to relax and work on your body. It works like magic if you want to start your yoga journey.

Google Fit-

Google Fit has improved a lot ever since it has partnered with WHO and American Heart Association to understand the theory behind the physical activity and how intense one must work to reach their fitness goals. It has improved a lot over the years and the latest version includes so many UI/UX changes that it is a lot easier to use now. It has a motivation system that grants you credits when you reach your goals and an activity tracker that automatically tracks every single physical activity that you do during your day.

It’s not a weight loss app but an app that helps users live a healthier life. It is a health savior app that helps users take significant steps to improve their food choices, workout habits, grocery shopping habits and much more to achieve their fitness goals. It works like magic when connected with google fit and it seems like the two are a match made in coding heaven.
