We recently covered the article to Jailbreak iPhone 3GS running 3.1.3 firmware. Next is the unlock, which is now available through Ultrasnow (Ultrasn0w).
Note that this unlock tool will work only on older baseband version 04.26.08, newer basebands will not be unlocked by ultrasn0w 0.92, there might soon be an update which may allow this, we will post about it as soon as we get to know.
Steps To Unlock iPhone 3GS Running 3.1.3 Firmware
NOTE: You need to have baseband 04.26.08 or older on your iPhone to be able to successfully unlock your iPhone. to know the baseband, go to Settings > General > About and check the Modem Firmware version.
1. Open Cydia, click Manage icon at the bottom.
2. Click on Sources icon
3. Click Edit button at the top of the screen and click Add button
4. Type the following without quotes “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” , IMPORTANT :note that the alphabet between s and w in sn0w is numeric 0 (zero), not the alphabet o.
5. Now press done, and search Ultrasn0w in Cydia (here also its a numeric zero, not an 0)
6. Install Ultrasn0w 0.92, reboot your iPhone and you can use any compatible GSM carriers’ SIM card in your iPhone now.
