Pause / Resume Any App Download On iPhone / iPod Touch

by Rohit on December 8, 2009

Have you ever wanted to pause the download of iPhone App for some reason? You might want to pause the download if you are leaving from home or office where you use Wifi Connection. You might want to pause it if you are now for any other reason like you don’t want to use the data network or 3G or Wifi etc.

You might also want to pause application download when you are on EDGE / 3G network and want to use some App which needs high speed data transfer like watching YouTube videos , downloading heavy email attachments or some other important work.

I discovered the way of Pausing the application download accidentally when I tapped on an while it was downloading on my iPhone 🙂

See the above snapshot in which I am downloading WordPress Application on my iPhone. I tapped on the downloading icon and look what happens in the snapshot below:

Yes the application download it paused as seen in Image above. To continue the download of the App, just tap it once again and it will start the download again. Maybe you knew it already, but I didn’t know, so I felt like sharing this small tip with our readers.

Dude, thanks,
I had “Super Marble Roll” paused on my screen for 2 days now, and every time I “woke up” the phone iTunes asked for password, but didn’t download it,
Finally it finished, thanks to you 🙂

Thanks! I had an app that was forever “paused” and I didn’t know how to resume it. Re-downloading it from the app store didn’t work. I must have tapped it accidentally.
