When it comes to professional grade laptops, there are quite a handful of names in the industry who make good professional grade laptops, and there are even fewer which make these laptops prepared for the toughest of the environment. In this article, I am going to share my experience about the Panasonic Toughbook CF-53 with you which I tested. The Toughbook is not just another laptop, it is built with a lot od tough material, initially, it may look bulky and like a small briefcase, but the build of the laptop is really amazing!

Let me talks about the most important part first, the hardware – The outer shell of the laptop is made up of some high strength and high quality composite material which is very tough, you can actually bang on it with your fist. The hinges are super strong and screen opens about 180 degrees. The keys on the keyboard are equally strong, the touchpad is strong but senses the finger movements quite well and has multi-touch capability. All the ports are covered with rubberized material to avoid dust or liquids to enter into these ports, the laptop is meant to be used in tough and not-so-friendly-environments.

The Toughbook also has an easy to remove battery and hard disk in case they require any maintenance or replacement. There is a small slit opening at the rear for the laptop dock but the opening is usually covered with spring loaded sliding doors to prevent anything from accidentally entering it. The hardware and build quality on the Panasonic Toughbook CF-53 is one of the best I have ever tested, I have literally banged on it with my fist and it doesn’t bother the laptop at all. Check out our video review below:

About the software side, it comes pre-loaded with the Windows 7 professional with 2 to 4 GB DDR3 RAM, second generation Intel i3/i5 processors. The experience index is decent close to 4.5 and the performance of the laptop is good and battery life is close to 3 to 4 hours. There is nothing wrong about the software performance and it is as good as any normal good business laptop.
