LG Optimus L5 Review with Photo Gallery and Video

LG Optimus L5 is one of the recent launched android phones from LG, its one among their line of Optimus series devices. We got the device to test and review for a month, we were quite impressed with the features and form factor it offers in a budget price segment, it seems to be a nice choice among the android phones among the budget android smartphones in india and in the price segment it comes in.

Build Quality and Design:

The build quality of the design is not great but good as per the price point at which it comes, it feels plasticy in hands but none of the parts of the phone including the back cover is not loose. It is quite nice to hold in hands, does not slip out because of the texturized back cover on the phone. It does not look like big phone but it does have a big 4 inch capacitive touch screen.

It has a 4.0 inch capacitive touch screen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, 4.0 inches (~144 ppi pixel density), the screen resolution is not great as the text and other things on phone looks little bit pixelated which does not look nice and all this is happening because of the low pixel density on such a big display size. Display on the phone is readable and but really very good as might expect it to be at this price.

One thing which we liked about the phone is that this budget android smartphone runs Android Ice Cream sandwich operating system out of the box, so you don’t have to wait for the update to be rolled out, however this phone will not support jelly bean so if you buy this phone you will need to remain happy with ICS, the software UI from LG which runs on the top is quite useful and does provide a nice interface which makes it using quite easy for the users.

The camera on  LG Optimus L5 is 5 Megapixel with picture of resolution 2560 x 1920 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, it does support geo tagging and touch to focus, there is no front camera on this phone but the back camera record VGA quality video at 30 Frames per second.

The pictures we took from LG Optimus L5 camera were quite decent in day light and low light as well if not great, saturation of colors in the pictures we took was quite good to see. Comparing the camera with other phones in this price segment from samsung or other brands it does not appear to compete at the same level.

Multimedia and Video Playback

The the default video player on LG Optimus L5 supports almost all the videos with popular formats, but the screen is due to the less pixel density can be quite hard on your eyes, but some of the features in the video player like fast forward or slow playback of the video, lock the screen while watching the video and taking a screenshot of the videos while playing were some interesting features we liked.

Some Test We Did On LG Optimus L5 Related To Video Playback

Call Quality and Messaging

The voice call quality from this device is quite good just like any other good smartphone in this range, the keyboard on the screen was quite comfortable because of the big touch screen of 4 inch which is good USP of this phone.

LG Optimus L5 Photos

LG Optimus L5 is not best phone in this price range, but it the one which gives a large 4 Inch touch screen with ICS out of the box. Although you may get other phones with better hardware, screen resolution in this price segment.
