Huawei IDEOS X2- U8500 First Impressions

Screen and Display –

The 3.2 inch capacitive display is nice and clear. The touch response is good, the text and iconography is nice, the visible screen area is clear and easy to read, the webpage rendering is also nice. For a budget android phone, the display is quite good in quality and response.

Optical Trackpad –

The optical trackpad takes just a few minutes to get used to it and after this its such a convenient way to use the phone. For a smartphone, the interfacing with the user is very important and the trackpad does it nicely. No doubt many expansive business phones have trackpad over the navigation key. It gives a nice feel and makes it easy to use the IDEOS X2.

Build Quality –

For a phone, build quality is important, and IDEOS X2 also scored good at it too. The phone looks solid and does not look cheap. The quality of plastics, screen and metallic finishes look good. The phone has glossy, mat as well as slight chrome elements combined in a very elegant manner.

Camera and Image Quality –

The camera, without flash, is quite average and does give decent pictures in outdoor well lit conditions. However we are not much impressed with the camera, but its not too bad, I would say just average.

Huawei IDEOS X2- U8500 Performance

With a 600 Mhz processor and 192 MB of RAM, IDEOS X2 give a very basic performance and runs the basic applications quite fine. Internet browsing and normal apps experience is quite fine. But heavy duty and graphics apps are not its cup of tea. The IDEOS X2 is not designed for top notch performance on graphics and processor intensive apps. So if you are looking for a high performance phone, U8500 may not be a right choice for you. But if you are looking for a phone for light usage like Internet browsing, social networking, and other basic applications, X2 is quite a decent choice.
