iPhone Dev Team has recently released redsn0w 0.9.4 which allows you to jailbreak iphone os 3.1.3, apple has rolled out the new firmware 3.1.3 you can read the changes in this new firmware  here

You can use redsn0w 0.9.4 to jailbreak and unlock iphone 2G, or jailbreak iphone 3G but cannot unlock it now or jailbreak iPod touch 1G and iPod touch 2G (older models whose serial number does not start with MC )

Warning: So you should not update to iPhone 3.1.3 os to preserve your unlock for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPod touch 2G (new models) and iPod touch 3G.  As the new iPhone 3.1.3 firmware updates the baseband to 05.12.01 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G which cannot be unlocked now.

Here is the how you can  jailbreak and unlock iPhone 2G, jailbreak iPod 1G/2G (older models only) on 3.1.3 firmware, You can also jailbreak iPhone 3G with redsn0w 0.9.4 but you will not be able to unlock now.

First Download all The Required softwares

1. iTunes Latest Version [ 0.9.3 ]

2. download redsn0w 0.9.4 for Windows or for Mac 

3.  download iphone os 3.1.2

iPhone 3.1.2 download (241 MB)

iPhone 3G 3.1.2 download (242 MB)

iPhone 3GS 3.1 download (306 MB)

4. download iphone os 3.1.3

Download iPhone 2G 3.1.3 OS

Download iPhone 3G 3.1.3 OS

Download iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 OS

Follow the procedure fo r the jailbreaking your device

1. First you will need to update to the latest 3.1.3 firmware via iTunes via update or restore. 

2. Run redsn0w 0.9.4  and now point to original iPhone 3.1.2 firmware which you have downloaded . Yes you need to point it to iPhone 3.1.2 firmware as 3.1.3 firmware is not recognised by redsn0w 0.9.4 till now.

3. When redsn0w ask to select what you like to have on your iphone, select Install Cydia and Already pwned if you had jailbreaked before

4. Now switch off your iphone but make sure that it is while it is plugged in to computer and click Next on redsn0w

5. Now follow the on screen instructions and redsn0w will start patching firmware and kernel.

6. redsn0w will do jailbreaking process and it will prompt the “Done” message once jailbreaking completed.

How To Unlock your iPhone 2G

1. Open Cydia and install “BootNeuter” package by iphone dev team

2. Restart your iPhone and when BootNeuter starts set the following settings as show in the screenshot below

3. That’s it now you have jailbreaked and unlocked your iphone

If you have recently bought an iPhone which comes with preinstalled 3.1.2 firmware and latest baseband then you might be really happy to know that you can Jailbreak it with RedSnow 0.9 beta 3.

It is the beta 3 release of RedSnow (RedSn0w) tool which is still in testing phase. There might be some problems but it is in working condition. You are advised to take full backup of your iPhone before you use this tool because in case some problem occurs, you might have to restore your phone to original firmware.

The features of RedSn0w 0.9 are :

• RedSnow 0.9 can jailbreak all iPhones and iPod Touch (except iPod Touch 3G)
• RedSnow can jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2
• RedSnow can only unlock the iPhone 2G (you have to install UltraSn0w from Cydia for iPhone 3G and 3GS)

Below are the steps to Jail Break your iPhone 3Gs running 3.1.2 firmware using RedSnow Tool in windows:

1. Download RedSnow 0.9 for Windows or  (RedSnow for  Mac if you have mac)
2. Download 3.1.2 Firmware for your iPhone and save it on a folder on desktop. Name this folder as jailbreak for ease.
3. Ensure that you have latest version of iTunes installed on your Computer, If not sure, download and install latest version of iTunes. Connect your phone to computer, open iTunes, click the shift key on keyboard and click the restore button. Select the firmware file named “iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw” from the jailbreak folder on your Desktop which you downloaded in step 2 above. This will bring your iPhone 3Gs to 3.1.2.
4. Now Open the RedSnow tool downloaded in step 1 and run it. It will ask for the frimware file, select the firmware file named “iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw” from the jailbreak folder on your Desktop which you downloaded in step 2 above. RedSnow will patch this file for your iPhone.
5. Now you will see three options “Install Cydia” , “Custom Boot Logo” and “Custom recovery logo”. Of these three options, select the first only, to “Install Cydia” and proceed.
6. Just follow the Instructions on the RedSnow Screen after this and it will jailbreak your iPhone. The iPhone will reboot and will be jail-broken by now. You will see a Cydia icon on your iPhone. If the Jail-break fails, start again from step 3 and follow all steps carefully.
7. To Unlock the iPhone, open Cydia on your iPhone. Click on Manage > Add Source , click Edit button on top corner and press the Add button.
8. Type  http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com  in the window (be careful, the letter before w in snow  is numeric zero, not alphabet O)
9. 
10. Now search for ultrasn0w on Cydia and install it

12. After this installation is complete, your iPhone 3Gs is unlocked on iPhone firmware 3.1.2
